European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, said that the EU is unlikely to take a decision on delaying Brexit this week. His remarks come in the wake of British Prime Minister Theresa May’s decision to not ask for a long extension to Article 50.

May, who initially favored a longer extension with the EU had to change course, as incensed pro-leave cabinet ministers and MPs in her party threatened to revolt against their own leader, notes The Guardian.

Downing Street said that the PM shares the public’s “frustration” at the Parliament’s failure to take a decision over a span of nearly three years since Brexit referendum, writes the BBC. May’s official letter for the extension is yet to reach Brussels, and its wording would play a crucial role in the length and conditions the EU sets for the delay.
