Radical environmentalists are a different breed of activists, who dare to challenge the mighty collusion between the governments and the capitalists, not with restrained, conventional and timid appeals but with audacious, hard-boiled actions.

Activists from “Earth First!” used to sit in trees, thwarting any external bid to raze the forests, “Sea Shepherd” people put their lives at risk in the Southern Ocean confronting Japanese whale hunters and there are other glorious examples, but all eventually met the same fate – persecution in response to their calls for environmental justice, notes The Conversation.

Recently, U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke displayed uninhibited keenness in putting the blame on “radical environmentalists” for deadly wildfires in California, which he had the audacity to say, were fanned by “lawsuit after lawsuit,” reports The Boston Globe. The arrests of activists and the criminalization of green activism threaten to muzzle the voices and stymie the action against climate change.
