The Trump administration’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released an environmental impact statement last month, acknowledging that the Earth’s temperature would rise by a disastrous 7 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100 and in the same breath, demonstrated its intentions to sit back on the issue.

The NHTSA defends the proposal to rollback Obama-era fuel efficiency standards for cars and light trucks built after 2020, arguing that the emissions prevented by these regulations would have no sizeable contribution to total greenhouse gas emissions, notes Eco Watch.

The Trump administration’s brazen attitude to shrug off the matter of global warming and instead use it as a tool to justify a proposed rollback of fuel economy standards is appalling and begs an honest and objective reading of the environmental impact statement, reports Earther.
