The leaders of the European Union are set for a showdown with British Prime Minister Theresa May at an upcoming “moment of truth” summit after she outlined her plans to end freedom of movement and adopt a skills-based migration policy after Brexit.

Manfred Weber, the German leader of the center-right EPP group, pounced on May for her attempt to pick off the benefits of the EU, urging the bloc members to stay united against such efforts, notes The Guardian.

Other leaders who took dim view of May’s post-Brexit immigration plan was Guy Verhofstadt, the European parliament’s Brexit coordinator, who dismissed the idea of “discrimination based on skills and on nationality.”  Earlier, May’s foreign secretary sparked controversy with her remarks apparently drawing a parallel between the EU and the Soviet Union, reports Reuters.
