U.S. President Donald Trump, in a series of tweets, heaped the blame for slow progress over denuclearization of North Korea on China, even as he praised his personal ties with Kim Jong-un and said he saw no reason to resume joint military drills with the South.

Trump’s remarks came on the heels of the decision to call off a planned visit to North Korea by his top diplomat over stalled progress on denuclearization, reports Reuters.

China, at loggerheads with the U.S. over trade issues, described Trump’s comments as “irresponsible” and designed to shift blame instead of introspection on the issue, notes the BBC.
