U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met North Korean official Kim Yong Chol on Friday to “fill in” some details to the Asian state’s commitment to denuclearization as agreed during a historic summit between their country heads.

Pompeo, who has been skeptical of the success of diplomatic efforts in persuading Pyongyang to give up its ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programs, is trying to reveal to the world the true intentions of N. Korean officials fairly quickly, notes The New York Times.

Pompeo will also hold talks over recovering the remains of U.S. troops missing from the Korean War, which will be a test to gauge N. Korea’s seriousness about negotiations, reports Reuters.
