Humans and machines are literally into each other, at least, in this biohybrid robot that housed a living cell for more than a week, probably steering us across the doorsteps of the futuristic territory of cyborg era.

The robotic device, created at the University of Tokyo Institute of Industrial Science, marks the first step towards building more complex biohybrid robots, which could forgo the need to run experiments on animal subjects in future, notes Futurism.

As researchers make progress in intertwining more complex living, biological tissue with synthetic robotics, the world would see the rise of life-like robots and advanced prostheses, writes Gizmodo.
