AI conjuring up bedtime stories for little ones

Authors earning their bread with children stories would detest a mighty rival that can dream up fairy tales on the spur of the moment but “creative” artificial intelligence bots hardly care about emotions.

Fascinatingly, a community of writers, artists and developers, named Botnik, has used the predictive power of AI to write a new story “The Princess and the Fox,” mimicking and reproducing the style of famed author brothers Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, writes The Stable.

Commissioned by mindfulness and wellness app, Calm, the team at Botnik trained AI to spot the most commonly used words in Grimm’s stories and their pattern of use, and this knowledge was fed into a predictive keyboard that prompts phrases in style of Grimm brothers whenever a word is typed.
