Enormous potential of altering consciousness

Food guru and bestselling author Michael Pollan, in his new book “How to Change Your Mind,” explores the role of stigmatized psychedelics, keeping the nature of human consciousness at the center of his experiments.

Pollan, who tried psychedelics himself after his fascination with human’s drive to alter consciousness whether by drugs or other agents, details his meaningful experiences as the mind leaps off to a transformative journey, notes Scientific American.

Pollan admits that psychedelics may bring back disturbing memories from the past but at the same time advocates their “enormous potential” in treating depression and other mental illnesses, writes Maclean’s.
