A research by Whitehall officials states that the online activity by Russian bots, trolls and automated accounts spiked by a dramatic 4,000 percent in the wake of the Salisbury poisoning attack and the chemical assault in Syria’s Douma.

One such account, @Partisangirl, fired 2,300 tweets within 15 days, on an average around 200 per day, reaching 62 million people with “disinformation and distorted truth,” writes Sky News.

Amid stories of how Moscow allegedly swayed the voters in the U.S. presidential election, a few believe that the hysteria over Russian bots has reached new levels, with pundits and Democrats rating the trolls too highly, notes The Guardian.
