A group of U.S. retail giants, comprising the likes of Walmart, Target and Costco among others, has urged President Donald Trump to reconsider the decision to impose hefty tariffs on Chinese imports, warning that such a move may hurt American households.

In a letter to the White House, U.S. retailers group said levying an additional broad-based tariff would bloat the prices, and it will be the American families bearing the brunt of the exercise, notes the BBC.

The group agreed that China must be held accountable for its unfair trade practices but in a manner that insulates the American businesses and consumers against higher costs, writes Progressive Grocer.
