Better late than never! The world may have been slow in responding to the ever-growing mountains of plastic but now that it has, the campaigns against this environmental menace are picking some steam.

The latest effort comes from the Indonesian island of Bali, which is organizing more than 120 separate beach cleanups with the participation of 20,000 people as part of “One Island, One Voice” campaign, writes Tree Hugger.

More than just mopping up the trash, such drives educate locals about the impact of single-use plastics and lay the ground for a shift in mindset and consumer behavior.
