In yet another sweeping overhaul of Saudi institutions, King Salman issued a series of late-night decrees to sack top army commanders, including the chief of staff, on Monday.

Analysts believe more of such dramatic shake-ups could follow both in military and civilian administration as Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, also the defense minister, calls the shots, notes Al Jazeera.

The revamp comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is facing global criticism for the war in Yemen, which has fuelled a humanitarian crisis while draining the Kingdom’s coffers, the BBC.
