The growth trajectory of artificial intelligence is poised for major changes as Chinese and American tech giants, including Alibaba and Amazon, prepare for a showdown in delivering artificial intelligence online.

Speaking at an event organized by MIT Technology Review, Animashree Anandkumar, principal scientist at Amazon Web Services, called the cloud as a means to democratize and globalize AI, which would encourage innovation at local levels across cultures and languages.

In the race to dominate the cloud AI, whoever gets the upper hand, will shape the kinds of AI services that burst onto the scene.
