Technology pioneer Elon Musk’s move to shoot his cherry red convertible Tesla roadster into an orbit around the sun augurs a shift in American spaceflight business, which for decades has been a territory dominated by governments.

While a section views tucking a Tesla on the nose of the Falcon Heavy as no more than a publicity gimmick aimed at cross-promotional marketing, others do see a meaning in the maneuver, notes The Atlantic.

It hints at how business of spaceflight has become less universal and more personal, with the entry of commercial companies.
