Russia ties: Trump trivializes “unlikely” Mueller interview

U.S. President Donald Trump apparently backtracked from his earlier commitment to meet Special Counsel Robert Mueller, saying that an interview over alleged collusion between his election campaign and Russia “seems unlikely.”

Trump, who called the Russia-ties story a “Democrat hoax,” asserted that nobody has found any collusion at any level, writes the BBC. The president’s remark comes amid reports that his lawyers were in touch with Mueller’s team scheduling a date for the interview.

Trump’s comment mark a U-turn from last June, when he claimed “100%” willingness to testify under an oath after sacking James Comey as the director of the FBI, notes The Guardian
