Deadly storms left a trail of death and destruction in many American communities and neighboring regions last year, prompting search for more reliable solutions and models to withstand powerful hurricanes.

Now, Margot Krasojevic Architecture has come up with a flexible, adaptable house that spins along a helicoid retaining wall to anchor itself into the ground as the hurricane passes through, notes Inhabitat.

The force of the storm tempers as it skims over and around the Self-Excavation Hurricane House, and rather, helps the structure to turn slowly enough to avoid damage and fast enough to escape hurricane’s brute force, writes Green Matters.
