From exaggerated stories to real game-changing breakthroughs – artificial intelligence landed a more-than-fair share of its space in the tech world. Poker victories against humans, hitting 99 percent accuracy in voice recognition, predicting political tilts, specific health conditions and what not, artificial intelligence proved its mettle in every sphere in 2017.

In 2018, AI technology is likely to make deeper inroads in medical diagnosis as developers beef up Computer Vision, the branch of AI that powers its ability to create computer processes and recognize images, notes BW Disrupt.

Augmented Reality and Voice-powered Assistants are two other areas likely to get a big push in the New Year as artificial intelligence overcomes its remaining stumbling blocks and becomes more commonplace in our lives.
