Bitcoin rockets past $5,000 mark to hit all-time high

With a leap of 7 percent in a day, its highest in over two weeks, Bitcoin rocketed past the $5,000 barrier on Thursday for the first ever in its trading history.

The cryptocurrency, which began the year with $966, has been on a rallying spree recently, adding up to 75 percent in the span of a month, notes Reuters.

Growing warnings of a price bubble for Bitcoin haven’t deterred investors and buyers from the cryptocurrency that allows transactions by bypassing banks and traditional payment processes, writes The Guardian
