As part of “Strawless in Seattle” campaign, more than 100 restaurants and organizations in the city gave up the use of plastic straws, eventually eliminating nearly 2 million straws in September.

The initiative launched by actor and environmentalist Adrian Grenier’s non-profit organization, Lonely Whale Foundation, will soon visit 10 cities across the world as part of its 2018 Strawless Ocean tour, writes Tree Hugger.

The effort is a step towards creating measurable impact and limiting global ocean plastic pollution, which has now started taking a serious toll on marine life as well as on human communities, notes Green Matters.
