A Maryland company, SolarWindow Technologies, doesn’t want your windowpanes to sit idle and soak up the sun without returns. The company has developed a transparent coating, which it claims, can turn any glass or plastic surface into a solar panel producing clean power.

The technology appeals as it retains the architectural aesthetics and transparency of the window while harnessing solar energy, notes Seeker.

The SolarWindow system, when installed on a 50-story building, can produce 50 times more power than conventional rooftop solar panels as it covers larger surface area, writes ICT News.
