SpaceX founder and CEO, Elon Musk, recently showed off the first image of a spacesuit designed for travelers who will be a part of his company’s Mars mission, aimed at sending humans to the Red Planet by 2022.

The photograph, shared on Musk’s Instagram account, carried a caption that described the suit as functional prototype and not just a mockup, writes Dezeen.

Musk also wrote that balancing the aesthetics with functionality was a key challenge in designing the spacesuit, which features grey contrast panels and piping on a minimal white base, notes Newsweek.
