Physee, a tech startup in the Netherlands, has installed the world's first commercial, fully transparent solar-power-generating windows on the façade of a Dutch bank, as it looks beyond just roof surface to make the expansive estate an energy neutral facility.

The PowerWindows, capable of producing 8 to 10 watts of power, carry solar cells aligned at a specific angle at their edges, writes Live Science.

The PowerWindows, are coated with a special material that directs the incident light towards the solar cells instead of reflecting it and thus steps up the efficiency of the system, notes Materia.
