Disney researchers recently unveiled “Magic Bench,” a creation that drives out the “solo element” in augmented and mixed reality experiences by letting everyone join in without requiring the participants to wear AR headsets or cling to just a phone screen.

The bench, designed for a uniquely interactive “walk-up-and-play” experience, lets multiple users interact with animated characters and other CGI elements and have fun, writes Variety.

The technology’s application could go well beyond just entertainment, for example, it can facilitate shared virtual interfaces or presentations that change depending on the participants, notes Engadget.
