Camera maker, Red, has launched a new smartphone, named Hydrogen One, which it says, features a holographic display letting the users view and capture multidimensional imagery without wearing bulky VR glasses.

The phone, priced at $1,200 for its aluminum model, has a 5.7-inch display that can “seamlessly” switch between traditional 2-D content and holographic 3-D content, notes Design Boom.

Such steep pricing of the device from an entrant smartphone maker has puzzled the analysts especially when the market remains dominated by proven players like Apple and Samsung, writes CNBC. Hydrogen One could hit the markets in the first quarter of 2018.
