Finnish startup Exsilio Oy is offering an innovative solution to land-deficient urban environments where residents wish to have fresh, locally grown produce. The company has developed modular farms, called the Ekofarmer, which can pop up anywhere in urban cities, producing healthy and clean ecological food.

The 13-meter long modular farms maintain a closed ecosystem, requiring only water and electricity to adjust the levels of humidity, water and carbon dioxide inside for optimal yield, writes Design Boom.

The product simplifies urban farming and can be a valuable addition to business fields in need of salads, herbs, (edible) flowers or medicinal plants, notes Inhabitat.
