After handing Qatar a list of 13 steep demands to end nearly three-week-old diplomatic and economic boycott, the Gulf states are considering new set of sanctions against Doha, said Omar Ghobash, the United Arab Emirates ambassador to Russia.

The Gulf states seek to up the ante against Doha by cutting down their trade links with those nations that continue to support Qatar’s economic activity, writes The Guardian.

Ghobash reiterated that the Saudi-led bloc doesn’t intend to escalate the ongoing diplomatic and economic embargo into a military standoff, notes Al Jazeera.
