How many of us nurtured childhood fantasies that someone just walks up to our doorstep delivering all sorts of candies and munchies? The imagination is a reality now in Shanghai where the world’s first solar-powered, self-driving supermarket, called the Moby store, goes to the customers presenting a glimpse of the future of shopping.

Packed with artificial intelligence, Wheelys’ Moby store is staff-less and tallies our purchases automatically without a checkout counter, writes Inhabitat.

Developed in collaboration with Hefei University and Himalafy, the Moby store keeps a track of its inventory and autonomously visits warehouse when it needs restocking, notes Design Boom.
