According to a report by the renowned consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, streaming websites Netflix and Amazon are set to race past the U.K. cinema box office earnings by 2020 and will account for about two-thirds of the on-demand subscription market.

The reports says that people will partly shift from cinema trips to these online platforms spending about 30 percent more on the latter, writes Independent.

The report admits that the trend doesn’t augur a death for the box office but the shift to digital platform will be a major blow to the high street retailers, supermarkets and specialist stores, notes BDaily.
