Strengthening its position as a pioneer in embracing renewable energy and clean technology, China has begun operating the world’s largest floating solar plant in the city of Huainan. The 40-megawatt facility, now connected to the grid, is ready to feed solar power to homes in the neighboring area.

The site, where the facility is built, has been flooded with four to ten meters deep water for some time now, so the solar plant optimized the land use, writes Design Boom.

Also, building a solar plant on the cooler surface of water, cuts down the risk of overheating of panels, maintaining stable performance for long time, notes Digital Trends.
