Sony looks set to advance the wireless charging technology a step further with its new patent in the U.S., whereby it envisions an antenna system that would allow one device to wirelessly share its battery power with another.

The patent, filed in 2016, explores a variety of ways by which electronic devices would track nearby antennas, just like they locate available Wi-Fi hotspots today, writes The Verge.

Sony is not alone in the quest to expand the realms of wireless charging technology, notes Wired. Recently, Disney built a room that wirelessly charges all electronic devices placed across the room.
