U.K. unemployment falls by 125,000 to 2.34 million

The number of people out of work in the UK fell by 125,000 to 2.34 million in the three months to December, according to the latest estimates. The rate of unemployment now stands at 7.2%. The Office for National Statistics also said more women were in work than at any time since records began, at just over 14 million. Meanwhile, average earnings increased by 1.1% in the year to December, a 0.2% increase on the previous month.
