With extra scrutiny on his already unpopular government over rumors of an affair with actress Julie Gayet, French President Francois Hollande experienced the first real consequence on Wednesday when his paramour was denied a spot on the Villa Médicis jury that determines which young artists will gain admission to the French Académie in Rome.
