Flu anxiety breaks out in U.S. after deaths reported

The 2013-2014 influenza season is starting to take off in the United States, with more than half the country reporting widespread cases of flu activity, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The alarm was sounded this week when Dallas County announced that 17 adults had died from flu-related causes by late December. A second report detailed the deaths of two Denton County residents, one of them a child.
