New thermostat uses algorithms to conserve energy

With a thinner body, a smarter core, and better compatibility, the Nest thermostat learns a household's patterns to adjust temperatures based on habits. Using algorithms and motion-detection, the thermostat conserves heat or air conditioning while the living space is vacant, and it is also compatible with most temperature systems in the U.S.
