Isis, a mobile payment system created by an AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile-backed joint venture is predicted to launch in December. Verifone Systems, a maker of payment terminals is leading the project that will debut in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Austin, Texas. ISIS will join a few competitors looking to enter the space. Some of those competitors are well-known, like Google and Ebay. Others are startups such as Square, which has already launched its iPhone-compatible product.
