The experts of artificial intelligence from Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft among others will be hosted at the White House this week to discuss the government’s role in propelling AI technology.

While the meeting underscores America’s acknowledgement of the importance of AI, it also hints at a “love-hate relationship” that the Trump administration is developing with this emerging technology, notes MIT Technology Review.

Trump’s tightened immigration policies, which make it difficult for foreign AI experts to work in the U.S. and the plans to keep Chinese AI researchers from AI projects over espionage concerns, are roadblocks to propagation of the technology.
