The data of nearly 87 million Facebook users, and not just 50 million as estimated previously, was improperly shared with political consultancy Cambridge Analytica, the social media platform revealed on Wednesday.

Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg, under fire after the massive data leak expose, is due to testify before the U.S. House Commerce Committee over the firm’s collection and use of users’ data, notes the BBC.

Zuckerberg said the data breach row hasn’t made “any meaningful impact” on usage or ad sales while admitting that mistakes need to be corrected, reports Reuters.
