NASA plans to ditch their slow, bulky and very expensive rovers with small and swift robot bees that will hover along the surface of Mars, gathering information via an array of sensors.

The “Marsbees” are flapping wing bots ideally designed to stay afloat in the low-gravity atmosphere of the Red Planet and collect samples of air to find traces of methane, notes Live Science.

These tiny bots won’t be impeded by the drag and roughnesses of the Mars’ terrain, letting researchers easily collect samples and readings, writes Science Alert.
