Facebook has overhauled its news feed system so as to give more prominence to posts that the users “care about” instead of flashing content from businesses, brands and media, a shakeup that chief executive Mark Zuckerberg claims will make interactions more meaningful.

The changes, which will come into effect over upcoming weeks, are prompted by community feedback against the overcrowding business messages and promotional content appearing in the news feed section, notes the BBC.

Zuckerberg cited a research saying that passively watching videos or reading articles isn’t as good as connecting with people we care about on social media, writes Independent.
