World’s first “Biological House” comes to life

The BIOTOPE ecopark in Middelfart, Denmark, is now home to the world’s first “Biological House,” which is built via an innovative process that turns agricultural waste such as grass, straw and seaweed, into raw building material.

The structure designed by Danish architecture firm Een til Een not only offers a way of upcycling agricultural “leftovers” but also prevents potential environmental damage due to burning of this biological matter, notes Inhabitat.

The 1,560-square-foot Biological House runs on solar energy and stores excess power in saltwater battery, presenting a fine example of sustainable modular housing, writes Architect
