Microbiologists at a teaching hospital at Harvard Medical School have developed an AI-powered microscope that not only magnifies samples but employs this emerging technology to identify deadly blood infections itself.

The development, which marks the first demonstration of artificial intelligence in diagnostic area, holds great value as reviewing a patient’s sample consumes long time and also requires years of experience and expertise for a human to accurately and consistently recognize microbes, writes Digital Trends.

The developers believe that the neural network system can be scaled up to build a future diagnostic platform that can speed up delivery of patient care, notes Firstpost.
