Elon Musk’s radical ideas of human cyborgs, implanted with robotic parts, may take some time to shape into reality but “bio-hybrid” robots, the machines built with integrated biological tissues, are already here.

A team of researchers led by the Chinese University of Hong Kong created these bio-hybrid robots by coating a layer of magnetic particles on tiny algae, writes Daily Mail.

Bio-hybrid robots can be considered as the counterpart of cyborg-related concepts, whereby living cells are implanted in machines to optimize their performance, a technology that holds tremendous promise for precision medical procedures, notes Live Science
