"Russia-tied Facebook ads reached 126m Americans"

Nearly 126 million Americans may have seen Russia-backed posts, mostly propagating a divisive social and political narrative, on social networking site Facebook before and after the 2016 presidential election.

Facebook revealed the stats ahead of Senate hearing, where the company will be joined by two other internet giants Google and Twitter, as they weigh up Moscow’s impact on the popular sites, notes the BBC.

About 80,000 posts were generated by fake Russian-linked pages and sent directly to 29 million Americans, who further amplified the audience by sharing, liking and following this content, writes The Guardian
