Swedish train operator SJ Railways is the first travel company in the world to swap paper train tickets with biometric microchips embedded in the passenger’s body.

The futurist system, based on near-field communication (NFC) technology, lets the conductor scan and check ticket information as the passenger holds out their hand, notes Independent.

Around 3,000 commuters have already used the microchip technology, a fact that backs the comments made by Tesla founder Elon Musk and Neil Harbisson, about humans need to evolve as cyborgs to match the capabilities of artificial intelligence, writes Dezeen.
