London-based firm, Studio Ayaskan, has designed a nifty pot named Growth, which draws inspiration from the Japanese art of origami and expands along with the growing plant to support wider root network and accommodate more soil.

Designers, Bike and Begum Ayaskan, explain that their pot replicates nature’s ability to grow and transform over time, offering a more sustainable planting option than ever, writes Bored Panda.

A pot can expand to over five times of its original volume, eliminating the need to re-pot the plant in a different vessel, a process that’s usually repeated three to four times in a small tree’s lifetime, notes Dezeen.
