The U.S. administration on Thursday lifted a controversial laptop ban that barred flyers from 10 airports in the Middle East and North Africa from carrying large electronics onboard U.S.-bound flights.

The four-month restrictions have been completely lifted after U.S. officials visited the 10 airports to check and confirm if the new security measures have been put in place, writes The Guardian.

The ban was imposed earlier in March after the U.S. received intelligence inputs that Islamic State has been hatching plans for terror strike via bombs hidden in electronic devices on flights, notes Deutsche Welle.
