The U.S. President Donald Trump, under fire as new evidence links his election campaign to Moscow, defended his son over his meeting with a Russian lawyer, shrugging off the 20-minute encounter as part of “a wild time” when campaign members were meeting many people.
Trump, who is heading for a two-day visit to France, allayed the apprehensions that the White House is in disarray following Trump Junior’s admission that he met Russian lawyer during the election campaign, writes the BBC.
Trump claimed that the Russian machinery would have wanted Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton to win the presidency as she would not empower the military in the way Trump could, notes The Guardian.
