If a concept proposed by London-based Curl la Tourelle Head Architecture comes to fruition, the city would get its “greenest building” in the form of a tidal powered five-storey school situated on the banks of the Thames River.

The studio, propelling the idea of sustainable architecture, plans to develop a series of turbines underneath London’s principal waterway so as to harness an untapped source of power, writes Dezeen.

The school will be constructed using natural and bio-renewable materials and will feature several carbon monitoring systems to help occupants keep track of their carbon footprint, notes Inhabitat
