British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday apologized to the Conservative lawmakers as she took complete responsibility for the election debacle that stripped the party of its parliamentary majority.

Addressing the Conservatives’ 1922 Committee, a “contrite” May admitted that she has got the party in this “mess” and it is she who will get the party out of it, writes The Guardian.

In order to prevent thrusting the U.K. into another election and to save her premiership, May seeks to forge alliance with “Northern Irish kingmakers,” the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), which has 10 parliamentary seats, notes Reuters.
